Since 1970, Patato's association with Latin Percussion (LP) has inspired numerous new product developments, worldwide tours, and recording projects. One such example is the Patato Model Conga, a testament to the innovation brought forth by this renowned musician and performer.

These fiberglass drums, played by professional congueros around the globe, were developed in 1978 after a recording session with the legendary Patato at the studio in Martin Cohen's home. Patato's own design called for tall drums with a wide belly and a small bottom, which resulted in a 30" tall silhouette that projects deep bass tones and great volume without sacrificing crisp, high sounds.

Shaped identically to the Galaxy Fiberglass Congas, these drums are well-suited for any style of music and are ideal for live performances. Featuring Chrome LP Comfort Curve II Rims and 5/16" diameter tuning lugs, the Patato Model Congas boast a reinforced LP Heart Side Plates structure for added strength and stability.

The LP fiberglass shells also incorporate a steel ring embedded at the bearing (top) edge of the drum shell, further enhancing the overall durability and integrity of the instrument. The LP ProCare Integrated Shell Protectors prevent the side plate hardware from marking or damaging adjacent drums, ensuring a seamless and efficient live setup.

Included with the Patato Model Congas are an accessory pouch, a tuning wrench, and LP Lug Lube, providing drummers with the necessary tools and accessories to maintain and care for their instruments.

The unique shell contour of the Patato Model Congas brings out the drum's mid and high sound ranges, allowing for a well-balanced and versatile tonal expression.
